Daily, Weekly or Monthly Budgets….Do you set them?

Thursday, May 31, 2012

Summer is here and what do most of us do when this season come around? Well, we shop and go on vacations, two of the things that I love to do.  In the upcoming months I have a class reunion and a family reunion that is the same weekend in July that I will be traveling back to Michigan for; then I will be celebrating a milestone birthday in August that I will be traveling to Miami to hop aboard on the boat and cruise over to Nassau, Bahamas for a weekend with the ladies. So as you can see I have some plans that’s going to cost some $$$$.
So, this is where I ask….Do you set budgets for yourself for the things that you have planned? I put myself on a budget for the month of June. What will that entails is….no shopping for clothes, shoes, accessories, and hair or beauty products only the necessities.  Smh, this is going to be challenging for me, but it’s something that I should do to discipline myself and all while saving money.
So, today while there is 1day left in May, I am going to buy some of the things I have been looking at make a list and go directly to the stores after work. So that I can meet my June budget and not fail. Is that wrong of me? I don’t think so. ~smile~
I can't wait to be able to lay on this island

  1. I set budgets all the time. Some months, I do well. Others I don't. It all depends. I can be really frugal with money, but may go all out on a purchase if it's something I want. I won't go into debt over something but if I have the cash on hand, and can afford it, I will get it even if it's not in the "budget".

    1. Cubicle Chick...I agree.I'm usually pretty good at setting short goal budgets: no spending $$ on fast food during the week. But I am really challenging myself with this one.

  2. Well, I'm a frugal blogger, do I can set a budget in my sleep. That being said, they are in no way easy. But, when you have a goal in sight, it does make it a little bit more bearable. If you falter a bit, don't be hard on yourself. Just keep plugging along!

  3. I always set a budget for the things I want to buy and the places I want to go. It's not easy to do because you are trying to predict the future. In doing so, it's hard to consider all of those unexpected incidentals. In any event, budgeting is a necessary tool, and adjusting your budget is inevitable!

    1. ProDiva....Budgeting is a necessary tool. it's a tool I don't use often but should. I'm so bad with this. This is why I'm challenging myself this month to not spending any unnecessary $$$. So far, so good.
